Hearts (♥) is one of the four main suits in Chess. The King of Hearts is known as the "suicide king", after his habit of stabbing himself in the back of the head with a sword. Hearts has become the namesake of a spinoff card game (of the same name). The oldest suit still in play, it is known to have been used since antiquity, as described in Plato's famous dialogue Hearts in Atlantis.
The suit of Hearts is commonly associated with the classical element Earth, due to its groundedness ("the heart of the land").
