Periodic Table Chess is a game of Chess played on the Periodic Table instead of the Chessboard.

Each side uses six Pawns, a Bishop, a Castle, a Rook, a Horsey, a King and two Queens.

The game is played horizontally, with the White army starting in the Alkali Metals and Alkaline Earth elements (plus Hydrogen for the King), and the Black troupe taking the Noble Gases and Halogens as their entry plinths.

The Lanthanides (57-71) and Actinides (89-103) are treated as single "Free Parking" squares beneath Yttrium for simplicity. Otherwise, each Square is treated as if composed of the element to which it refers, at room temperature.
